Repair and

New Parts

for Furniture

On this page you will see parts that have been repaired or replaced because of various reasons and new parts created. Some of what you see below maybe an entire project that required several of the same items. You may see some items you find interesting.

The next three pictures are of replacement legs for twin dining table pedestals. Six of the eight legs were replaced. The one to the left is a new leg ready to install and a broken one next to it.

To the left is one of the pedestals with new legs installed but not finished.

Finally, the pedestals are ready for installation to the dining table.

All that is needed is for the customer to pick them up and screw them to the table underside.

What do you think?

Next we have a broken teak chair rail. As you can see "another's repair" (?) was unsuccessful. Nails and silicone glue just does not work.

Now you see the new chair rail made and installed with the old part placed on top. Also, note that the rail angles to the rear and that the legs are round. This means that the ends of the rail need to be cut in the same fashion along with being bored for connecting dowels. (Much work.)

Ok. Chair rail made, replaced, finished and ready for pickup.

Thanks for viewing.

What you see is a piece from an old half-round display case. (You've seen a gazzillion of these cabinets.) The front legs had this carving of multiple bird faces and beaks. When brought in for work it was quite beat-up and needing some "fill-in" carvings. Interesting to me for what there is out there in the furniture world.

Ok, ok. There are times that I get into things and I kick myself after- I get on missions. But, I just could not let these customers down.

The cabinet that they had me work on was very old and had been through a great deal of adversity than one could go through. And... it was missing a pull. I traveled to every antique store and emporium in Illinois and Wisconsin I could looking for a replacement. No luck. So, finally I decided to make one. The reproduction is not perfect but all were pleased to not see the gaping hole of no hardware.

Often, chairs are brought to the shop that need parts: seats, rockers, front legs, all kinds of things. At Campana Woodworking, there have been very few parts that have been turned away.

To the left you see two front legs that were broken needing replacement- the dark ones. The new legs are unfinished and white. Note the new parts (especially those when turned on the lathe) are made a bit heavier to help durability. Please also notice that the new parts are properly bored and accurately reproduced.

Now, this 150 year old rocker is ready for the reading alcove with new front legs, the original seat fabric, all repairs complete and a new coat of finish. The rocker is highly improved and a joy for the homeowner.
