 Two More Full-sized Beds
Changed To Queen Size
Many times a family has a bed passed down through generations. The problem is that people have gotten taller and like to enjoy more room in bed. So, the change from a almost full-size to a queen is frequently desired. This page briefly shows two more examples. Remember, the task is not only to make the beds larger but to make the change and work undetectable to others.
A Bed From The Past
                 Made For The Future
This is the headboard to be made into a Queen
Here is the mate footboard. Sorry about the skew on the picture.
Look closely at these two pictures. Then look at the next two. Decide if the work was performed being faithful to the original design and workmanship.

The headboard after "stretching."
The footboard after alteration.
The room this bed was placed in made it difficult to take good pictures. But I think you can decide from the pictures presented.
         A Project of Legacy Salvation
The next two photographs are presented to show some work in progress. What you see is a mahogany footboard that was salvaged from the garage of the client's relative. The headboard and rails were lost over time. But this person wanted to save as much as could be for posterity. The embossments were added after approval of the client. All wood is mahogany and finished to match the center of what became the headboard.
The dark area was originally a footboard.
A closer view of the new pilaster.
So much can be done to save and restore furniture. It does take imagination, craft and a desire to create quality. A very well equipped shop also helps.
